Back with question 11

Now some of you may be wondering if I am still alive.
Seeing as I have about two readers of who I see weekly you know
that I am. But I have been getting some stick about starting a
series of a certain catechism and not finishing. I have been
accused of doing a Jon Thomas in the blogging world. Let me assure
you that my blogging blackout is not a sign of a dying series,
rather a dying laptop – thanks to a chicken and a egg. With all
that out the way let’s consider another question from our favourite
German catechism. Question 11 – But isn’t God also merciful? Answer
– God is certainly merciful, but He is also just. His justice
demands that sin, committed against His supreme majesty, be
punished with the supreme penalty – eternal punishment of body and
soul. DeYoung comments, “We often struggle to embrace God’s right
to execute justice, but when the referee blows a call against our
team, we’ll stand up and yell at the television. When our insurance
company refuses to pay what the policy says they should, we’ll get
downright indignant. We all have a sense of justice. But somehow we
don’t think God can be concerned for justice when he is


am Jamie, and I am a Christ follower. I love Jesus but more importantly he loves me and made the ultimate sacrifice of his son so that all the things I have done, and will do, have been forgiven. And now I know God, and I pursue to know him more. Motivated and transformed by his grace I live for God, to glorify him by enjoying him.
