Le Paloton in a France cycling term for the pack. It is the main group of riders in a race that swallow up those brace break away cyclists and contain most of the best riders. It is like a sea of multi coloured lycra that moves from town to town in an impressive motion. When the peloton reaches the mountain stages we see many of the weaker riders, and occasionally some of the strong ones drift out of the peloton as they struggle to complete the race.
Now this reminds me of the Christian life. Sometimes we are all going along together. We seem to be growing in Christ and working together. Other times we can go through tough patches, our mountain stages, where some seem to backslide terribly, the race is strung out all other the course and some drop out the race completely.
Some even form a kind of cycling break away pack, and escape the peloton. This reminds me of Christians who seem to be on fire. Those who are living for Christ, their life is Christ. Yeah its hard and gruelling but they storm to the finish.
