‘They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.’ Titus 1:16.
Paul was spot on when he was writing this letter to Titus. He knew the context (that Titus was to straighten out the church) and how that would happen (by appointing elders and correct teaching). It may seem then that the book of Titus has a lot to say to our church leaders and preachers, but maybe not so much to the pew warming Christ follower.
If such a view is yours I apologize, but you’re wrong.
You see we have much to learn from Titus. Let me put it very simply. Titus 1:16 challenges us as to what we are living for. What does your life reveal? If your life was a movie what might we learn from your character?
Paul is clear. ‘A knowledge of the truth leads to godliness (Titus 1:1).’
So to put it in different terms, knowing God will make you more like Him. The foundation of our life is where correct living stems from. If we get the heart right our footsteps wont betray us, and more importantly Christ. Christ followers must root themselves in Christ, and the best place to start is in the Bible.
Hey Jamie! your posts are always very nice to read! do you follow a bible study guide? Do you recommend them?? Thanks, Vicky
Hey Vicky. I don’t follow a bible study guide. But I would recommend ‘Explore.’ They are pretty good.
